Module 1:
GROWING WITH GOD
IDENTIFYING YOUR PERSONAL
‘PROFILE’
‘Profile’ has been designed to enable participants
to identify their distinctive place in the body of Christ. The
students receive teaching on all areas being explored: Temperaments,
Passions, Talents and Spiritual Gifts. The course also includes a
component on People Helping Skills for ministry within the Body of
Christ.
SEARCH FOR LIFE
‘Search for Life’
This program is designed to equip the students in
areas of pastoral care, discipling and group leadership. The course
consists of a training segment and a supervised practicum. ‘Lifekeys Facilitator Training’ is a seven session
program covering issues of theology, practical group skills, as well
as core issues involved in recovery such as: Family Systems,
Self-Esteem, Grief and Loss, Defence Mechanisms, How Healing Comes.
The group skills training addresses issues such as Group Dynamics,
Leadership and Intervention styles, and how to build a cohesive
working group, as well as providing experiential group work.
LEADERSHIP & TEAMWORK
including Leadership Studies from ‘Joshua’
The purpose of this subject is to build on the
practical leadership skills that students have been developing
throughout the year and in particular during their mission
placements. We examine aspects of ‘Working in Team Ministry’ and
‘Building Small Groups’ as well as utilising Bible studies on
Getting along with people, Elijah and Joshua to consolidate a
Biblical approach to leadership and communication.
Module 2:
STUDYING THE BIBLE
BIBLICAL STUDIES: A
including ‘New
Testament Survey’
In this subject students will be given an
introduction to the Bible and will be taught the skills of how to
read and study the Bible in context. Hermeneutic and Exegetical
Bible Study Tools will be explained and utilised. The Biblical
Studies subject includes a New Testament Survey which focuses on
each book of the New Testament with an emphasis of understanding the
books background, structure and key theological teachings.
Module 3:
UNDERSTANDING THE CHURCH
CHURCH IN FOCUS: A including ‘Christian Doctrine: A’
‘Church In Focus: A’ looks at the Beliefs,
Structures, Practices and Purposes of the Christian Church, both
locally and globally. Students will explore various Christian
denominations and traditions which will enable students to
understand the place of the modern Christian church biblically,
historically and functionally. Included in this subject is an
Introduction to Christian Doctrine which will look at Basic
Christian Theology including: Doing Theology, God’s Revelation, The
Nature of God, The Work of God, Humanity and Sin, The Person of
Christ, The Work of Christ, The Holy Spirit, Salvation, The Church
and Last Things.
CHRIST AND THE EARLY CHURCH
including ‘A Harmony of the LIFE OF CHRIST’ and ‘The
Book of Acts’ with an emphasis on
Life Application.
‘Christ and the Early Church’ look at the life of
Jesus Christ from a chronological perspective with an emphasis on
Life Application for Christian Living. We spend an extended time
exploring Jesus’ great Manifesto ‘The Sermon on the Mount’. The
second half of the year is spent delving into the Book of Acts and
its major themes of the coming of the Holy Spirit, the inclusion of
the Gentiles, Evangelism and Heaven and Earth coming together.

Module 4:
COMMUNICATING THE GOSPEL
CREATIVE COMMUNICATION: A
This unit covers the ability to articulate theology
using relevant, everyday language and resources. There is an
emphasis on understanding and developing your own worldview and
theology while focusing on evangelism. We utilise Jesus’ Parables to
examine how He communicated about the Kingdom of Heaven, we examine
the media and film and how meta-narratives are conveyed, as well as,
examining material from Focus on the Families ‘Truth Project’ to
explore current worldviews.
Module 5:
DEFENDING THE FAITH
REASONS & ANSWERS: A
including ‘Contemporary
Issues’
‘Reasons & Answers: A’ helps the students to
understand that there are solid answers to the questions of a
sceptical and enquiring culture, and to explore the evidences for
Christian Faith. This subject includes an Introduction to World
Religions along with a focus on exploring Contemporary Ethical and
Moral issues using a Biblical framework.
Module 6:
REACHING THE WORLD
MISSION TO BALI
A compulsory component of this course involves a
four-week mission trip to Bali, Indonesia, to work and minister in
selected Balinese orphanages and ministries within our mission
partner organizations. ‘Mission To Bali’ prepares students for the
challenge of leadership within the context of Balinese language,
history, communities, religions and cultures. The course will cover
aspects such as: Identification of Cultural Differences,
Cross-Cultural Sensitivity, Preventing Culture-Shock and working in
cooperation with existing mission organisations.
SECOND MISSION EXPERIENCE
Students will be expected to complete a second
significant leadership experience working as part of a team toward
the end of the year. This will build on the earlier Bali placement
with students provided an opportunity to fulfil a leadership role in
a high school mission trip to
Module 7: LEARNING PRACTICAL SKILLS
NUTS & BOLTS: A
including St John’s
First Aid Certificate
Students are taken through their First Aid
Certificate and Bronze Medallion, as well as, learning a range of
practical skills that relate directly to hands on ministry practice.
Essay writing, referencing and time management skills are addressed
early in first term.
